The going joke on the Farm is always what animal Jacque is going to come home with. They say jokes always begin with some truth right?
At the end of September 2023 we were both planning on attending the first ever Valais Blacknose Sheep Show in Des Moines Iowa. Justin ended up having to stay home and sent Jacque off to the show alone joking "Don't bring home any new sheep" and well if any of your know Jacque you know this advice fell on deaf ears. Two days later she called to let Justin know she was cancelling her flight home, renting a car and putting down 6 mil plastic sheeting and hay in the back and driving home her new baby girl Greta. 12 hours later Greta arrived on the Farm and Justin welcomed her and made her feel right at home.
Greta is a beautiful addition to our flock in so many ways. She hails from a loving farm in Texas where her loving beginning fostered a really gentile spirit. She is quiet yet strong and merged seamlessly with our flock. Greta also impressed us so much with her gorgeous striking looks. Her face is quite girly and pretty compared to our other females and even her horns are more petite and finely spiraled. She has fine long wool that is the purest white we have ever seen on a Valais juxtaposed by bold perfect pure black markings. Her body is elegant and feminine boasting clean lines and a strong stance. Her strong genetics are a fantastic addition to our breeding program. Her Sire Heartland Bojangles has produced really nice offspring including one of the three Maximum Points Ewes from the National Valais Blacknose Sheep Show USA in Des Moines this Fall named "Koala". We're excited to add Greta to the flock and see what she'll produce someday. In the meanwhile we’ll be shearing her wool to make some beautiful products and enjoying her sweet company on the Farm.
We'll keep y'all posted on our breeding plans.

Lil' Hemi immediately impressed us when she made her entrance into the world right here on our Farm in Spring. She was large and so strong and her markings were so nice we cried tears of joy! We kept telling ourselves "We can't keep everything" but Lil' Hemi is DEFINITELY a keeper. We took her to the National Valais Blacknose Sheep Show in Iowa in Fall and she did so great! The judges loved her and she only graded -1 point off Maximum. A true testament to her beauty, incredible fleece and conformation. We are SO PROUD of our Hemi girl and excited to get her back into the show ring next year.
It will be a while before we breed Hemi so that she can grow and mature, but we are thrilled for her future.

Gladys joined the Farm in August of 2023 along with her twin sister Gloria. She is a 100% purebred Valais Blacknose with incredible genetics including maximum point ancestors. Gladys is a beautiful expression of the breed all with a striking appearance all around.
Her markings are just lovely with a fully black face, perfect socks, knee spots, small hock spots and a well-proportioned tail spot. She has no additional rouge black spots and is and is uniformly white throughout. She grows a lovely thick fleece all over with precious waves and ringlets at the ends. The next thing you’ll notice about Gladys is her strong conformation with beautiful bone structure. You’re greeted by her darling Roman nose and spiraling horns which leads your eye to her solid top line, a broad chest and along to her well-built hind region. Her large frame stands proudly sure footed with a wide stance and moves easily with an elegant gate.
Gladys makes us so proud because in addition to her good looks she is just as sweet as pie. She loves human interaction and will come sniff your pockets to see if you brought her treats. She bounces and prances with excitement when she sees her favorite people and is deeply bonded with her sister Gloria. Honestly, it's rare we ever see them apart, they even stick together on pasture all day. We just love Gladys so much and we cannot wait to see what the future holds.
We'll keep y'all posted on our breeding plans.

Gloria joined the Farm in August of 2023 along with her twin sister Gladys. She is a 100% purebred Valais Blacknose with incredible genetics including maximum point ancestors.
Gloria is an absolute character and her antics always bring a smile.
She greets you with a strong Roman nose and thick wide set spiraling horns and the cutest panda face markings, which we recognize are not ideal but, it is very hard to find a fault on the rest of her. Gloria has great body markings and is uniformly white throughout. She grows a lovely fleece with a consistent staple length all over her body, a beautiful crimp and curls for days. We made a fabulous throw out of her first fleece that was shorn off in Fall of 2023 and it was such a beautiful fiber to work with. Gloria is a huge fan of the feed bin and this big girl doesn’t ever miss an opportunity to nibble on snacks. She’s strikingly large and well-built with a strong chest, broad well-rounded chest and ribs lead to well-muscled hind quarters. Gloria has a nice wide stance with correct foot placement and a long, straight topline. We love her breeding potential; this gal was built for baby makin’ and we cannot wait to see what she produces.
Around the Farm Gloria is always making us laugh. She’s extremely affectionate and goofy as could be. Despite being built like a Mack truck she'll bounce around the yard with excitement, chase the guardian dogs for kicks and is very opinionated about what chairs we bring in to her space so she knocks over any unwanted patio furniture. She also if the most vocal of all the sheep. She’ll tell you exactly what she wants, complains about the weather and hollers at you if you end the cuddles too soon. She’s camera shy and very bonded to her sister Gladys so almost every shot of her also has her sister in it as they are rarely separate. Gloria is a true joy to have on the Farm.

Grace has been the sweetest little addition to the Farm. She's a petite gal with a HUGE heart. As her name suggests she is a stunning creature with smooth ladylike movements, a nice wide set stance and lovely conformation. Grace's markings are perfectly placed and well proportioned with a lovely fully black face. Her sweet loving disposition and gentile demeanor is a paramount trait.
Grace was bred this year on Mother's Day to a fantastic ram Highland Hamilton. We are thrilled to confirm that she is carrying at least one baby due in early Oct.

Gosh how do we even begin to tell y’all about Jupiter. This boy is SUCH a character and all around best boy. Jupiter joined us back in 2023 when he was already a year old and has been stealing the hearts of everybody who meets him ever since. He knows his name and comes when called like a puppy with the hopes that you might give him some love or maybe an animal cracker which is his favorite treat. We even trained him to jump up for a kiss and head scratchies when we tap on the stall door. He is gentile with our visitors and always puts on a show trying to get attention from every guest.
Buy hey… this guy isn’t just personality, he has the good looks to match! Jupiter is a beautiful ram with some of the most iconic horns we have ever seen on a Valais. Everybody who meets him mentions his amazing horns which have great width away from his face, symmetry and spiral shape. His fully black face is complimented by bold Roman nose, block head and kind eyes that are often hidden by his lengthy head wool. He’s often sporting a man bun because his gorgeous head locks cover his eyes and he crashes into things. He has a beautiful fleece that grows to an impressive staple length with complimenting leg wool and loads of fine curls all over. He has perfect breed standard markings that are well balanced and nicely symmetrical throughout his entire body. Jupiter is quite large but still holds his lines nicely with strong wide set rear legs and a decent front legs and a strong topline. Despite his gentile nature Jupiter has proven to be quite the ladies man and a reliable stud ram. He has provided live cover not only for us but for other local Valais owners who have kindly reviewed him on our socials, hence the paint on his chest in his profile photo. If you’re in need of stud services Jupiter is a great option and more info on how to book, reviews and more can be found on our Stud & Planning Service page in the top web navigation.
